The Raleigh Estate
The Raleigh Estate occupies an enviable position on the banks of the River Dart within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This unique location provides us with a wide range of natural habitats and features including river frontage, foreshores, creeks, streams, ancient woodland, softwood plantations, open farmland, footpaths and bridleways.
In the midst of the Raleigh Estate we have developed a unique private woodland camp with easy access to the River Dart that allows us to provide one-day or residential courses.
Our unique location ensures we can provide a wide range of activities including canoeing, sailing, raft-building, high & low rope courses and much more.

Bushcraft Day
This one-day experience on the Raleigh Estate provides a gentle introduction to bushcraft skills.
You’ll meet your guide in the beautiful riverside village of Dittisham and walk via footpaths into the historic Raleigh Estate - be prepared for some hills!
Deep in the Estate’s woodland lies our bushcraft camp where you’ll spend the day enjoying a variety of activities before walking back to Dittisham for an ice-cream (or possibly a cold beer!)
A wonderful family adventure on the River Dart and the Raleigh Estate
The River Dart Adventure follows a similar format to the Bushcraft day except on this experience you’ll be travelling down river from Dittisham to the Raleigh Estate by Canadian canoe. You’ll get to explore the beautiful River Dart, hike footpaths and woodland trails, and learn bushcraft skills all on the stunning Raleigh Estate with the exclusive use of a sheltered, secluded woodland camp.
With a private creek, river frontage and acres of fields and woodland, this is the ideal location for you to enjoy Devon's great outdoors.
What is Bushcraft?
Bushcraft is essentially the process of collecting skills and knowledge which will enable you to survive and thrive in the natural environment indefinitely.
Bushcraft skills include shelter-building, fire-making, foraging for food, tracking, hunting, fishing, the use of tools, carving, rope and twine-making, and many others.
Many of these are ancient skills which are still practiced today as everyday skills amongst native peoples around the world.
Some of the activities you might want to try include:
Traditional & primitive fire making - Learn the essential skill of fire-building and keeping yourself warm. We look at a variety of methods to get that all-important camp fire going.
Natural shelter building - Learn how to make a shelter using the materials nature gives you. Shelter building requires real teamwork and not a little bit of problem solving!
Wood carving - You are shown, in a safe environment, how to make some of the essential tools you need to make life easier out in the bush.
Campfire cooking - Fires not only provide warmth, they're the key to your lunch! You'll be preparing and cooking your own food - you haven't lived until you've tried campfire pizza!

Bushcraft Day: From £40 pp
River Dart Adventure: From £65 pp
Full day of fun activities, lunch included. Both of these experiences are perfect for individuals, families and groups.
The Bushcraft Day requires a minimum of three people and the River Dart Adventure requires a minimum of five people. Both experiences start and finish in the village of Dittisham.
